Zahara de la Sierra

This small village is in Cadiz, but only about 30km away from Ronda, set up on a mountain, it looks down on some magnificent scenery.

I had the pleasure to stay at a friends farm in this area for a few weeks, recently, while he is renovating it.  He is working so hard, and hopefully I was able to give him some useful assistance during my stay.

The farm is called Huerta Cinco Lunas, and is owned by Gonzalo Canelejo, and is set in a Nature Park that is a protected area.

This area  is frequented with day trippers and hikers, who come to see the fabulous scenery and historical buildings, which is impossible to do in one day.  Gonzalo hopes to offer accomodation to these people, and anybody else who appreciates  what the countryside has to offer in the way of peace and tranquility, economical accomodation, once his farm is adapted, and you will be sure of a warm welcome should you decide to visit.

This is Gonzalo and a picture of the village Zahara de la Sierra

  • The Pueblo Blanco sits high up
    On the mountainside
    Underneath a Moorish Castle
That atop the mountain does precide
  • It's a quiet little pueblo
A few bars and retaurants you'll find
    around the village square
And the people are so kind
  • A Smile, an 'Hola!' will be yours
Wherever you go in this place
    Because all the locals recognise
    And Welcome each new face
  • The Scenery is breathtaking
The views are Oh So Good
Don't take my word for it
Make a visit there - You Should!
  • In winter the snowcapped mountains
    Are a wonder to behold
    Because even in December
    Inland Spain is never cold
  • The Autumn rains bring with it
    Green fields and fruitful trees
    Figs and Walnuts grow everywhere
Just one of the sights you'll see
  • There are Olives and Lemon Trees
    Oranges and Limes
    All these make this area
    So beautiful at all times
  • In Spring the trees do blossom
And their colours are so bright
    Their perfume pervades the air
On a warm and balmy night

  • The Moon is Huge The Stars are Many
See them Shooting across the sky
At night all this is yours
To sit and view in Tranquility
    On a Patio outdoors
  •
  • A Tapas at a bodega
A Glass or Wine in your hand
    A Cheery Conversation
With the friendly people of this land
  •
  • All this you'll find in Zahara
And much more if you just look
So next time you need to get away
Don't use a tour operators book
  •
  • Just contact Gonzalo
    At Huerta Cinco Lunas
He'll make your holiday so memorable
    with hospitality thats first class

The Stream Running through Gonzalo's Garden

Another view of the stream

To sit on a morning at dawn, hear the river tinkling over the stones, and that first cup of coffee......................heaven!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
