There are many hundreds of breeders of german shepherd puppies, some good, some bad and some that need to be shot.
Most of the breeders look after their animals wonderfully, but, on many an occassion I have been made to wonder if the reasons they do this are truly ruled by compassion or if financial reward is their only driving force, as their actions sometimes belied their words.
I have my own opinions on this, but to many breeders these puppies are only loved and regarded as precious because they are figures in their bank balances.
There is a Breeders Charter that these breeders can sign, and many have, but the legislation within this charter was written by these very same breeders.
Are they going to shoot themselves in the foot? I don't think so.

German Shepherd puppies
Just balls of fur and squeaks
lie in the whelping box
They're only aged two weeks.
At three weeks old the puppies get
their first real taste of meat
their eyes are open and they crawl
around on very wobbly feet.
By four weeks old they'll be eating well
In fact, anything that comes in sight
They'll be lapping, now and by this time
their dam is only their at night.
Through the day they'll be on their own
to fight and play at will,
but come nightfall and they will find
their dam the boss is still.
By five weeks old the dam is close
to finishing her role
As mother of these puppies
and she'll need to be consoled.
She'll want to be beside them
When you don't want her to,
and when you put her in with them -
She'll want to be with you!
By six weeks old they'll be quite a size
and running everywhere.
You'll have to watch them like a hawk
they simply have no fear.
For nine weeks before they were born
and for the six that they have lived
You've nurtured these little puppies
Giving them the best that you could give.
But when they reach eight weeks old
and to new homes they must go
Can you say that you will give
As much thought to this, or NO?
Is it really tender loving
or are they just a profitable ware
Are you just protecting an investment
or do you REALLY CARE/
